One K = 1,000 bytes and is metaphorically the same as one sheet of paper.
One meg = 1,000 K (1,000,000 bytes) and is the same as Harry Potter.
One gigabyte = 1 billion bytes and is the same as a small library.
One terabyte = 1 trillion bytes or Library of Congress.
